Exporting your opt-out list

Export your workspace's opt-out list as a CSV for compliance and record-keeping.

You can export your workspace's opt-out list as a CSV file. This gives you a point-in-time record of every number that has opted out, which is useful for compliance, audits, and keeping your own records. The export runs in the background, so you can carry on working while it is prepared.

Note: Only the opt-out list can be exported in emu.chat. There is no separate contact export. If you want a record of who has opted out and why, this is the export to use.

Export the opt-out list

  1. Open Opt-Outs from the sidebar.

  2. Select Export. The export starts straight away and a progress dialog appears while the file is generated, updating as it works through your opt-outs.

  3. When it finishes, the download starts automatically. You can also download it later from the Exports page.

Tip: If you have a large list, you do not have to wait by the dialog. Select Email me when ready and emu.chat will email you a link to download the file once it is prepared.

What's in the file

The export is a CSV named opt-outs-{date}.csv, with one row per opted-out number, ordered by when each number opted out. Each row includes:

  • Phone Number: the number that opted out.

  • Method: how the opt-out happened (manual, reply, link, or import).

  • Reason: the reason recorded for the opt-out, if any.

  • Opted Out At: when the number opted out.

  • Created By: the email of the person who added the opt-out.

Find and download earlier exports

Every export you generate is listed on the Exports page, showing its status, row count, and when it was created. You can only see and download your own exports in the current workspace.

Select Download next to a completed export to download it again. If you asked to be emailed, the email contains a link to the same page.

Note: Export files are available for 24 hours after they finish, so download what you need within that window. After that, generate a fresh export.
