Set a reminder on a conversation to bring it back to the top of the inbox at a time you choose, with an optional note on why. Reminders are shared: any member of the inbox can see, change, snooze, dismiss or delete a reminder, whoever set it.
Set a reminder
Open the conversation and click the bell icon in its header.
Click Set reminder.
Under When, type a time such as
in 3 hours, tomorrow at 9amorfriday 4pm, or click the calendar icon to pick a date and time. The time emu.chat understood shows under the field. Phrases you've used recently are listed for quick reuse.Optionally, add a message (up to 500 characters) saying why you're coming back to it.
Click Set reminder.
The time must be in the future, to the minute. The reminder appears in the conversation history, and hovering the bell shows when the next one is due. You can set more than one reminder on a conversation.
What happens when a reminder is due
The conversation moves to the top of the inbox list, below any urgent conversations, and its row shows a bell. It stays there until someone dismisses the reminder.
A due entry appears in the conversation history, showing the message and who set it.
Within about a minute, inbox members are notified. By default everyone in the inbox is notified about every reminder. Each person can change this per inbox in Notification preferences, under Notify me when a reminder is due.
Dismiss a due reminder
Dismiss a reminder once you've dealt with it. This marks it done for everyone in the inbox, and the conversation stops sitting at the top of the list. You can dismiss from any of these places:
The bell in the conversation header: click Dismiss under the reminder.
The due entry in the conversation history: click Dismiss.
The conversation list: open the three-dot menu on the conversation's row and choose Dismiss reminder.
The reminder's entries stay in the conversation history.
Snooze, change or delete a reminder
Click the bell in the conversation header to see its reminders, soonest first. Open the menu next to a reminder, then:
Edit (or Snooze once it's due): change the time or message, then click Save changes. A snoozed reminder comes back, and notifies again, at its new time.
Delete: removes the reminder and its history entries for everyone. You can't undo this.
Reminders on archived conversations
You can't set or change reminders on an archived conversation. Archiving cancels its upcoming reminders, so they never notify, and dismisses any that are due. Reopening the conversation doesn't bring them back, so set them again if you still need them. See Archiving and reopening conversations.
